Before you awesome characters want to plot, let me tell you something about Ariadne. There are few key words that you need to know first. She's single, twenty-six, former Ravenclaw, animagus, legillimens, and a very dark, wicked witch. Yup, that's about it in a nutshell. But let's go over her personality and history first, shall we?
PERSONALITY:
No one would suspect that small, innocent looking Potions teacher is not what she seems, that she is a rather dark witch. She has a pleasant, but antisocial front when she is teaching at Hogwarts to fool everyone around her. Only when she is alone or with dark people that she lets her true self come forward.
Ariadne has an extremely organized mind that leans towards the dark side of things. She was raised under the domineering fist of her father and the watchful gaze of her aunt. Ariadne has no idea who her mother is, but her aunt hinted that she was a muggle, so she beat her niece any chance she got 'to get rid of her weaknesses'. Thus Ariadne learned from a tender age that being emotionless and cold were the way to go.
She was always honest and quiet, mostly at first due to fear of her aunt and the constant physical abuse, but latter because she didn't care for people's lies and deceptive ways. She has a self-centered confidence that only came when she was at school and realized that she was good and intelligent when it came to school work.
Ariadne inherited some of her father's interest in the torturing of people. However, instead of physical torture, she far more prefers manipulation and mind torture. She enjoys watching them suffer. It is what led her to the Dark Arts and to seeking power. She wanted to become as powerful as she could to fend off further abuse from her relatives. And the more she became obsessed with the dark arts, the darker her personality became.
Though a woman of few words Ariadne is a powerful force to recon with. She conveys attention when she speaks, simply because it is such a rare thing in a conversation for her to do. She does speak a lot in class, but that is cause she is teaching.
HISTORY:
Ariadne was born on a cold autumn night in the family estate. Her aunt Aella was the midwife of course, she had after all had a children herself. Her brother, Soren stood by and watched as a woman, gave birth to their child. Ariadne was born without complications. She cried loudly and shrilly as she came into this world cold and wet. Her mother disappeared that night and was never heard from again.
Ariadne's childhood was straightforward and wrought with pain and suffering. She was an only child and a mistake in the eyes of her caretakers. Ariadne was beaten on an almost daily basis by Aella in order to remove all the weakness the girl had. She was as a child very caring and showed compassion to others that she met while out. Soon however, she learned that this was a big mistake and began to slowly shut down her emotions to the point where crying was no longer an option for her. Tears simply do not come. She became cold and distant from her feelings. They are like a dark shadow she barely recognizes.
She was homeschooled and showed her first sign of magic at six years old when she made his aunt's soup explode in a fight of rage. She was so angry that she would not be able to have a birthday party with her friends that year that she just yelled and the soup exploded. She paid for that one with a beating, which caused her scar when her aunt slashed at her with a cutting curse.
Ariadne received her letter at age ten since she would not be turning eleven until the break, she was admitted anyways. Her aunt considered keeping her home for another year, but in the end her father insisted. Ariadne went to school and there found the one thing she could never find at home. Acceptance. She felt that here she could finally be who she was. She also became aware that the muggles, though she already hated them, because her mother left her, that they breeded alarmingly.
Ariadne was sorted into Ravenclaw and she began her training as a witch. There were few incidences in her school years. She was a typical Ravenclaw, always studying, though sometimes she just couldn't be bothered. She usually picking on the muggle borns with her Slytherin friends. The Dark Arts appealed to Ariadne at the age of twelve, when she really began to learn about it. However, her true brightness was in potions, which she excelled at.
Ariadne graduated and became a potions apprentice to one of the greatest wizards of all time, Jores Shattershield in Mykenes, Greece. At age nineteen she also managed to become an animagus, but in her opinion with a rather pitiful form, a common mouse. Jores told her at that time that even with a small form, she could spy and do incredible things. Ariadne slowly accepted her form and found that she rather liked it.
Ariadne was 23 years old when her master died. Even though she didn't care much for people, she felt some sadness for him, the one who taught her so much. She was offered the position of potions professor at her old school Hogwarts and readily took it. It has been her ambition for a long time to teach there. Currently Ariadne is working on the course material for the school year, readying herself to teach the children all about the complex art, yet subtle art of potion making.

Friends are really a strange concept for Ariadne. She really only has them because they benefit her in some way. She doesn't have very many friends for that reason, but the ones she does have are considered to be close by normal standards. In reality, Ariadne would sell someone short if she thought she would get a better deal out of it. She is only interested in making friends when she is bored and has nothing to do. Of course, all above needs to be said in consideration that she only extends a hand in friendship to dark witches and wizards. She usually only uses the rest. But at Hogwarts, she doesn't want to get close to any of her co-workers, so she plays the anti-social, solitary type, which isn't far from the truth.

Anyone who disagrees with her way of life or her opinion will quickly become an enemy. She is a fighter, though she does have a soft side reserved for handsome men. Most of her enemies are muggles and Light wizards and witches, just because she does poorly with people who she find underneath her and she has always viewed the Light ones as the phony heroes. She would hurt anyone who said anything about her unknown mother, especially something bad.

She once had a boyfriend, and one she loved a lot. She was one year younger and when she was finishing up school, he remained at home and started sleeping with other women. She left him after she tortured him mentally for hours. He is now a permanent resident in St. Mungo's. Ariadne doesn't trust easily, if at all, but even when in doubt while in a relationship, she would never cheat on her lovers, having a bad experience with her first one.
